The BacAllFree project has officially started!
BacAllFree aims to develop antifouling surfaces inspired by the self-cleaning structures of plants to reduce bacterial and allergen deposition on surfaces and facilitate the removal of organic deposits formed in critical zones of dairy processing facilities where biofilms are a problem.
This 3-year national project funded by FCT is led by FEUP in partnership with the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). The FEUP team includes Luciana Gomes and Filipe Mergulhão from the Biofilm Engineering Lab (BEL) at LEPABE/ALiCE, and Kathryn Whitehead, leader of the Microbiology at Interfaces Group of MMU.
