Last week, our researchers from the University of Porto had the opportunity to present their work related to biofilm development and food environments at the SurfSAFE Conference “Biofilm detection and control in the food industry”.
Poster presentations comprised “Surface conditioning effects on Horizontal Gene Transfer” by Débora Araújo, “The use of probiotics to control biofilm formation in the food industry” by Andreia Tomé, and “The effect of biomimetic surfaces on single- and dual-species biofilms of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas putida” by Francisca Sousa-Cardoso.
Oral presentations included “Biomimetic surfaces as a potential strategy to mitigate biofouling in the food industry” by Fábio Carvalho, and “How surface material and hydrodynamics shape Horizontal Gene Transfer in biofilms?” by Luciana Gomes.
In addition to these scientific presentations, Luciana Gomes also introduced the BacAllFree Project in her Closing Remarks presentation at the SurfSAFE Conference. Congratulations to all!
